Our introductory course is run over a long half day and aims to provide staff with a base knowledge of Human Factors/Ergonomics. It is suitable for anyone working in healthcare who would like to learn about Human Factors. Topics covered in our half day course include:

  • Introduction to Human Factors/Ergonomics
  • Understanding interaction between humans tasks, technology and environment
  • Human Factors models (looking at models to analyse a system)
  • How Human Factors links with patient safety
  • Understanding system processes and how to change them
  • Learning what makes a good process/ how to recognise a bad process
  • Teamwork and communication
  • Human Factors methods
  • User centred design
  • Designing solutions
